Irina Petreska is a full professor and head of the Institute of Physics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. She obtained her PhD degree in Physics in 2011 under the supervision of acad. Ljupco Kocarev. Her research focuses on the mathematical modeling of quantum systems and density functional theory (DFT). She has co-authored more than 30 papers published in prestigious, peer-reviewed journals. Irina Petreska has active international collaborations and participates in joint projects with several universities and research institutions abroad, such as TU Vienna, Austria; TU Braunschweig, Germany; the Rudjer Bošković Institute, Zagreb, Croatia; and the University of Ponta Grossa, Brazil. She has participated in numerous conferences, symposia, and workshops in Macedonia and abroad, and she is also actively involved in the scientific and organizing committees for some of them. Irina Petreska is an active member of the Society of Physicists of Macedonia, the German Physical Society, and the European Physical Society. She also has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate, master's, and PhD levels, including courses in Quantum Mechanics, Mathematical Physics, Statistical Physics, and Electronic Structure of Matter: Theory and Simulations.
